We now have a new Ragley Ti demo bike, the Ragley Ti frame has been lovingly built with top quality components.
Ragley is the latest brand from British Designer Brant Richards designed and tested in and around his Yorkshire home.Working with specialist companies and suppliers such as Lynskey, the focus is on more than just the price. More important to Ragley is the working relationship with the companies and their experience helping to resolve challenges posed by some of the exciting new innovations featured on the Ragley frames.
The range currently consists of three models, all named after trails in the Todmorden area. The Blue Pig, built from triple butted chromoly steel formed in custom drawn sections, and featuring external butting. Next is the Mmm Bop with a 7046 alloy frame, again built using custom triple butted tubes, with a 1.5” head tube for increased strength to run longer travel forks and then the range topping Ti is the 3A1/2.5v US certified titanium frame welded by Lynskey performance who have manufactured some of the most desirable high performance frames in the world. The frames all feature the same geometry and share many design features, such as the exclusive three finger Chainstay Bridge which not only allows massive clearance for tyres up to 2.5” but produces a really stiff bottom bracket area to enable you to get the power down and gives plenty of clearance for the chainrings, totally eliminating chainsuck. Another shared feature is the chainstay disc mount which makes the rear triangle look neater as well as providing a stiffer mount and means the seat stays can be made from a lighter gauge material which saves weight and gives improved comfort to the rider without losing any trail feedback. The frames are designed to run forks from 120mm to 150mm and have slightly longer top tubes than conventional geometry, using shorter stems for sharp handling, and a seat angle that places the rider in a central position regardless of their size. This makes them great on technical descents but doesn’t sacrifice climbing ability in the process.
Perhaps one of the biggest surprises lies in the pricing of the frames with the Blue Pig at £259.99, the Mmm Bop at £275.99 and the Ti at £1299.99 which is amazing considering the research and manufacturing techniques that have gone into them, and even more so when you consider the involvement of Lynskey on the Ti. Lynskey are small family owned high performance engineering company from Tennessee USA. David Lynskey leads a team of just eight people using nothing but the best materials available to produce flawless frames with lifetime guarantees. They are guided by the question “How can we improve the cycling experience?” and the answer is by hand welding every frame they manufacture to exact tolerances every time, following constant feedback from their customers.
We have chosen to stock Ragley because they recognise that not everyone wants a flat out race bike, although there is no reason why you couldn’t use them for that, but they have realised there is a call for sweet handling UK trail friendly and go anywhere machines. Build options are endless; we can spec and build the bike to suit your needs.
We have built a Ragley Ti frame for demo, as with all our custom builds, performance and function are paramount, but aesthetics are also a major factor in the spec choices below.
The complete bike weighs 25lb inc XTR spd pedals with the following spec, Fox 32 Float R forks, Hope Tech X2 203/180 brakes, Mavic Crossmax ST tubeless wheels with Maxxis Cross mark tyres, Raceface Evolve X-Type chainset, XT shifters and rear mechs, Control Tech scandium bars, stem and seatpost. This equipment compliments the frame and shows off the handling qualities, allowing you to push your own limits.
