2009 saw a large amount of people turning to cycling for all sorts of reasons, and many models sold out very quickly. This is good news for you though as it means you can now buy the very latest bikes from Giant.
For the road cyclist, we have the Giant Defy, light and stiff for club events but still comfortable enough for sportive style rides, or the daily commute. Starting at just £475 the Defy 4 has an AluxX SL frame, a full Shimano STI transmission and a triple chainset for a wider spread of gears to help on the hills. The Defy 3 at £625 uses the same frame and benefits from Carbon forks and Shimano Sora shifters & mechs.
New for 2010 is the £750 TCX 2 Cyclocross bike. With wider profile tyres, tough AluxX frame & forks and equipped with Shimano Tiagra rear mech, Sora shifters and powerful Tektro Cyclocross canti brakes it’s the ideal choice for a long tough commute over mixed terrain.
The Seek is a light yet tough no nonsense machine with mountain bike strength & road performance for fast commuting. Seek 4 at £450 has an AluxX frame & fork, Shimano Acera rear mech & EZ fire shifters, Shimano disc brakes and a super tough paint finish to resist the scrapes from your daily commute or family rides.
If you are looking for your first mountain bike The Yukon Disc is an excellent place to start, at only £375 with disc brakes, Shimano Acera rear mech, and Suntour suspension forks with lockout, its at home on the hills or for a quick ride to work or school.
The hardtail Talon range has been created especially for typical UK riding conditions, and is a fast, confident handling bike. The Talon 2.5 at £475 features a fluid formed AluxX frame, 100mm travel fork with lock out, and hydraulic disc brakes. Talon 2 benefits from Shimano Deore shifters and rear mech at just £550 and the Talon 1 at £650 gets Rockshox Dart 2 forks with lockout & Shimano SLX rear mech.
For the Enduro racers and fast singletrack lovers how about the 4” travel Anthem X a firm favourite with testers in 2009 and set to continue winning accolades in 2010, the Anthem is a fast riding and competent bike that all levels of rider can appreciate. Starting at £1400 the Anthem X4 has Fox F100RL, SLX rear mech, Deore shifters and external bearing chainset & Mavic XM117 rims. Anthem X3 sees upgrades to SLX shifters, XT rear mech, Mavic XM317 rims and Avid Elixir 5 disc brakes for £1750. For £250 more you can have the Anthem X2 which is almost entirely XT equipped, from shifters & rear mech to external bearing chainset to disc brakes, the only deviation being the SLX front mech and hubs, and at £2000 its not only amazing value but an outstanding performer.
Trance X is the 5” maestro suspension all rounder that loves tricky climbs and fast rocky descents alike. Starting at £995, the Trance X4 is fantastic value, using the same frame as the rest of the Trance X range, with Rockshox Tora 120mm forks, Shimano Deore shifters & mechs as well as Alivio hydraulic disc brakes. We also have the Trance X2 at £2000, equipped with Fox F120RL QR15 forks & featuring XT Shifters & rear mech, external bearing SLX chainset and Avid Elixir disc brakes.
