New Youth Bikes in the Shop: Whyte Secta 24 and Secta MX 26 🚲🔥
We know how hard it is to find a decent youth mountain bike. Most of them weigh as much as an e-bike, have suspension that does not actually work, and come with gears that snap on the first climb.
Thankfully, Whyte has sorted it. We have just added three new youth bikes to the Back-on Track Bikes website, and they are exactly what young riders need to get out on the local trails and start building real confidence.
These are not scaled-down adult frames; they are proper, purpose-built trail bikes designed from the ground up for younger, lighter riders. Let us break down what makes them so good.
Whyte Secta MX 26 (In Stock Now!)
Price: £749.00 If your rider is aged 12 or up (roughly 137cm to 152cm tall), this is the one.
We currently have this model in stock in blue, right here on the shop floor. You can bring them in, let them swing a leg over it, and see how it fits.
This bike uses an "MX" or mullet wheel setup. That means it has a larger 27.5-inch wheel on the front for rolling over roots and holding speed, and a smaller 26-inch wheel on the rear to keep it agile and easy to corner. It is a brilliant setup for local woodland loops.
Here is what you get:
- Proper Suspension: It comes with a Suntour MAG32 100mm air-sprung fork.
- Tunable for Lighter Riders: Because it is an air fork, we can tune the pressure perfectly to suit a lighter rider, meaning the suspension actually works.
- Modern Gearing: A Shimano Essa 1x8 drivetrain keeps shifting simple and provides a massive 11-45T cassette for spinning up the Beacon.
- Real Brakes: Tektro hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm rotors deliver serious stopping power in all weather.
- Upgradable: The frame is even routed and ready for a dropper post when they want to progress to steeper trails.

Whyte Secta 24 (Available to Order)
Price: £599.00 For the younger shredders (around 7 to 9 years old, or 120cm to 140cm tall), the Secta 24 is spot on.
We have these available to order right now in both Aquamarine and Yellow.
Instead of adding a cheap, heavy suspension fork that barely moves, Whyte has smartly used a custom rigid alloy fork. This keeps the overall bike weight incredibly low, making it so much easier for smaller kids to pedal, accelerate, and handle on the trails.
Key features include:
- Perfect Proportions: The grips, saddle, brake levers, and cranks are all sized specifically for early riders.
- Trail Ready Tyres: It rolls on 24-inch wheels fitted with wide, high-volume 2.3-inch tyres that act as natural suspension to smooth out the bumps.
- Easy Gearing: Just like the 26, it uses the reliable Shimano Essa 1x8 drivetrain for easy climbing.
- Safe Stopping: Junior-specific Tektro hydraulic disc brakes ensure they can always stop safely, even with smaller hands.
